Deanna and Connor’s wedding was a wonderful celebration filled with love, laughter, meaningful traditions, and memorable moments. Their wedding at the Taubman Museum of Art in Roanoke, Virginia provided a distinctive setting for a day that was uniquely their own.
A Wedding Ceremony Filled With Meaning
As the ceremony began, Deanna and Connor were reminded that a wedding celebrates one of life’s greatest gifts — finding someone you love and choosing to continue the journey together in marriage.
Their ceremony included thoughtful advice about building a lasting relationship. They were encouraged to communicate openly, let love remain stronger than anger, learn the value of compromise, believe in the best of one another, and remember that friendship provides an important foundation for marriage.
Those words helped make their ceremony much more than simply an exchange of vows. They reflected the commitment Deanna and Connor were making not only on their wedding day, but for all the years ahead.
A Traditional Handfasting Ceremony
One of the most memorable elements of Deanna and Connor’s wedding was their traditional handfasting ceremony.
During the ceremony, their hands were bound together as a symbol of their commitment and the joining of their lives. The officiant also explained the connection between this centuries-old tradition and the familiar phrase “tying the knot.”
As they joined hands, they were reminded of what those hands would represent throughout their marriage.
They would be the hands that comfort one another through sadness, offer care during illness, provide encouragement when pursuing dreams, and share a lifetime of happiness together. Deanna and Connor also promised to honor one another, share each other’s burdens and pain, and continue looking for the laughter and brightness in life.
The ceremony was touching while still allowing Deanna and Connor’s personalities and sense of humor to shine through.
Exchanging Wedding Rings
Following the handfasting, the couple exchanged rings.
Their wedding rings were described as symbols of eternity. The ceremony compared the creation of a ring — beginning as rough material before eventually being shaped and polished into something beautiful — with the way love and a marriage develop and strengthen over time.
Deanna and Connor then exchanged their vows, promising to love and cherish one another through better or worse, richer or poorer, and in sickness and health.
Introducing the Newlyweds
Finally came the moment everyone had been waiting for.
After exchanging vows, completing their handfasting, and exchanging rings, Deanna and Connor were officially pronounced husband and wife.
They sealed their vows with a kiss before being introduced for the first time as a married couple.
Then they made their way back down the aisle together, beginning the next chapter of their lives.
